Dodge Ram HD is a good example. Unlike the present model which has a 6.1-Liter engine producing 425 horsepower, this heavyweight will be powered by a 6.4-Liter Hemi V8 engine producing 450 to 500 horsepower. The next-generation Dodge Ram HD is expected to be powered by this engine of choice.

Jim Press, Chrysler co-president may have denied the future of Hemi as a chosen powertrain but he seems to be eating his words with the planned usage of the Hemi V8 for the 2011 Dodge Ram HD. This new heavy duty will have a longer stroke and bigger bore and definitely more powerful. The new 6.5-Liter engines are already being tested but there is as yet no confirmation about the transmission which will be mated to this engine.

It is being built as a work truck engine but this powertrain is expected to rise in rank and will be used in the 2012 Jeep grand Cherokee SRT8 producing up to 500 horse4power and a torque of 500 pound-feet.
